Crítica: Il Vuoto – Weakness (2015)

Il Vuoto es una banda italiana de Funeral Doom/Drone fundada en el año 2015 por Matteo Gruppi (Chiral), único integrante y encargado de todos los instrumentos. Después de dos demos, Il Vuoto lanzó su primer álbum de larga duración llamado “Weakness” y este mismo año acaba de lanzar un split junto a Failor, llamado “Senseless Painful Lives in Tears”.

En esta reseña nos vamos a encargar de analizar su LP “Weakness”.

Durante 7 canciones asistimos a un viaje al mismo centro del dolor, la soledad y la desesperación, llevado a cabo a través de ritmos ultra lentos, interminables riffs densos y oscuros, además de líneas de guitarra acústica, bellísimos pasajes de piano y elementos orquestales que ayudan a recrear esa atmósfera desalentadora pero a la vez hipnótica. La voz de Matteo alcanza varios registros, desde guturales graves, pasando por susurros, hasta susurros desgarrados de tonos más agudos. Quizás la parte negativa es que en ocasiones queda demasiado ensombrecida por la música, debido en parte a la producción del álbum.

Personalmente destaco la primera canción “And Night Devours Me”, “Through Mirrors I Saw The Ghost Of Me” y la outro “Closure XXVII”. En ellas encontramos todos los elementos que hacen que este disco sea ese soplo de melancolía y desesperanza que en ocasiones, irónicamente, nos ayudan a disfrutar y entender la negatividad.

En resumen, un álbum debut muy interesante y plagado de buenas composiciones, que no aburre en ningún momento. Si te gustan bandas como Skepticism o Mourning Beloveth, Il Vuoto te encantará. No te lo pierdas

Il Vuoto is an Italian Funeral Doom/Drone band founded by 2015 by Matteo Gruppi (Chiral), only member and responsible for all instruments. After two demos, Il Vuoto released their first full-length album called "Weakness", and this year has just released a split with Failor, called "Senseless Painful Lives in Tears".

In this review we will take care of analyzing his first full-length.

Through 7 songs we attended a trip to the heart of pain, loneliness and despair, carried out through ultra slow rhythms, endless riffs, dense and dark, as well as acoustic guitar lines, beautiful passages of piano and orchestral elements that help to recreate that atmosphere at once hypnotic but daunting. The voice of Matteo reaches several records, from guttural bass, whispers, to torn whispers of sharper tones. Perhaps the negative part is that sometimes it is too overshadowed by music, due in part to the production of the album.

Personally, I think the best songs are "And Night Devours Me", "Through Mirrors I Saw The Ghost Of Me" and the outro "Closure XXVII". In them we find all the elements that make this album a breath of melancholy and despair that sometimes, ironically, help us to enjoy and understand the negativity.

In short, a very interesting and filled with good compositions debut album, that does not bored at any time. If you like bands like Skepticism or Mourning Beloveth, you’ll love Il Vuoto. Don’t miss it!
